| Bio | Neil Postman: Who was he? Neil Postman (August 8, 1931-October 5, 200was an American author, educator, media theorist, and cultural critic, who is widely recognized as one of the earliest champions of the interdisciplinary study of the media and their influence on society. To build and maintain a culture that is genuinely a force for good, we must use information to become aware of all aspects of society. The world in which we live continues to generate information at an ever-increasing pace. In actuality, there has already been significant advancement in this field. This results in enormous new knowledge that continuously broadens our comprehension. I believe this explosion of information and its rapid dispersion is essential to making our society work. So how does his work relate to technology and literacy in the classroom? It becomes an extension of the human mind and not simply a medium for communication. For many of these kids, technology is just another tool they use to learn new things and finish tasks. We are in desperate need of individuals who can use this knowledge to benefit society, and Postman’s works offer an important critique of these very individuals. Postman’s book Postman offers his opinions on technology in this book in a somewhat lighthearted way. What then should be done in this circumstance? Readers will be able to determine whether or not they agree with his views on technology and literacy by the book’s conclusion. we see a group of kids who are growing up in a world that is becoming more dependent on technology than ever before. It becomes more than just a communication tool; it becomes an extension of the human mind. He gives numerous instances of how technology has taken over our lives and made us lose sight of the benefits and beauty of interpersonal relationships. Postman firmly believed that literature and technology were intertwined. In other words, he would advise you to incorporate a social studies project of some kind when introducing students to new media. Students can take steps to improve their own social skills, especially if they begin using the new social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook. Assisting students in developing their interpersonal skills is the next step.
